At one of Ocean County’s most renowned senior care nursing and rehabilitative facilities, caregiving is more than a job, it’s a job done exceptionally well. So says NJADONA, who for the third year in a row has recognized a member of Holiday Care Center’s nursing team for excellence in senior caregiving. NJADONA, The New Jersey Association of Nursing Administration, named Jonas Bamba, BSN RN Supervisor of the Year for 2013, adding his name to the list of Holiday Care Center’s previous honorees including JoAnn Curry, LPN of the Year 2011 and Evelina Andujar, Certified Nursing Assistant of the Year 2012. The honor was formally awarded at NJADONA’s annual convention in Atlantic City.
Following its opening in 1987, Holiday Care Center has continued to build upon their reputation for delivering the highest quality senior care, while establishing new standards for wellness, including 24/7 care for the chronically ill, as well as those in need of convalescent care, and rehabilitative services such as physical therapy, speech therapy and post-operative treatment and therapy.
According to Administrator Donna Schwartzman, Holiday Care Center’s ability to retain its high standards of excellence is due to passionate professionals like Jonas Bamba, whom demonstrate the care, kindness and clinical skills that are so crucial to caregiving. “Jonas is truly one of Holiday Care Center’s ‘shining stars’, he displays a constant commitment to his profession and to the patients and residents he serves on our fast-paced Sub-Acute Unit. You can ask Jonas any question about a resident and he has the answers. No wonder that the residents and families fall in love with his caring ways, knowledge of each resident and attention to detail. With that kind of dedication, nurses like Jonas Bamba truly make a difference in a patient’s recovery.”
During his tenure at this 180 bed facility, Bamba has been active on all caregiving fronts, serving as a medication nurse, treatment nurse, charge nurse and nursing supervisor. “Mr. Bamba has a wonderful practice ethic and is a methodical, keen and compassionate professional nurse,” says Director of Nursing, Jimmie King, BSN RN. “Jonas values professional growth. He recently completed the National Board Certification Course and Examination to become a Certified Wound Specialist,” and this distinction furthers his commitment to senior care.
While Holiday Care Center’s focus on excellence in nursing and rehabilitative care is evidenced by three successive NJADONA annual awards, at the same time, even higher authorities have taken notice. A 2013 survey by the Department of Health graded Holiday Care Center excellent, not only for meeting the state and federal government’s mandatory requirements, but recognized Holiday for achieving advisory standards in seven areas including Rehabilitation, Dietary Services, Activities, Infection Control, Pharmacy, Communication and Physical Plant/Life Safety.
Located in Toms River, NJ, Holiday Care Center is one of Ocean County’s most highly regarded nursing and rehabilitative facilities, continually singled out by doctors, residents and families for its diverse and specialized services including 24/7 care for the chronically ill, as well as sub-acute and convalescent care, and a state-certified Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care program.
